REVIEW A truly grand LP put out by Rod Stewart. Every Picture Tells A Story opens with the title cut and this song and its story just builds until its ending. The next three songs are covers, with "That's All Right" the best of them. Then Stewart's all time great song, "Maggie May", what a knock-out of a tune, one or Rock's best songs! That true classic is followed by two more, the very wonderful "Mandolin Wind", and then another cover, "(I Know) I'm Losing You", which was recorded with The Faces before Stewart went solo. What a great number this one is, with some great drumming by Kenny Jones. The album closes with a nice cover version of Tim Hardin's "Reason To Believe". Another of the reasons why this album is so grand is the guitar playing of Ron Wood, especially his slide guitar on a few cuts. All in all, the musicians playing on this LP shine very bright, as does Stewar's voice. Yes, a true rock-n-roll masterpiece. -- Keno 2001 To listen to some soundclips from Every Picture Tells A Story or to purchase it click on: Every Picture Tells A Story Return to Rock Album's Reviews
