Stevie Wonder is a great musician. Not only can he sing, but he plays all kinds of instruments on this album, including the synthesizer. Plus despite the fact that he is blind, he knows what was going on in the world in the 1970s. He knew all the things that were going on around that time. Innervisions is the epitome of what Stevie Wonder is, was, and always will be. This is one of the best albums of the 1970s (other than David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust and maybe Led Zeppelin IV). It certainly one of the best Soul records ever and this is a must-have for any music fan out there.

This album starts off great with the Funky “Too High”. It’s about a girl who was on drugs and she overdoses on them. Great song. Great keyboard, great vocal and backup vocal, and love the drums. “Visions” is a nice love song. I also love the vocals on here and I love the guitar. Very Soulful. Then it went to one of the best songs of the 1970s, “Living in the City”. I believe this is a perfect song about the ghetto. I think Stevie’s had New York in mind, though it could be about any other place with poverty and drugs. This is one of those songs that would inspire Hip-Hop generations to talk about living in the ghetto and how bad it is. Love the vocals, love the synthesizer, love the backup vocals and love the music. Of course, it went straight to another great Funk song, “Golden Lady”. Beautiful love song. Excellent vocal, probably his best in this album, and great keyboard. Love the drums.

“Higher Ground” is a Funk song that a lot of people love. It’s a very good song about religion. Not my favorite, but I love the lyrics and I love the singing. Love the synthesizer as well (I can say that about most songs on here). Then this song led to a Soulful “Jesus Children of America”. Great song to the children of America, telling them that Jesus loves them. Nice back up vocal and I love the rhythm in this song. Of course, I don’t have to tell you about the synthesizer. “All in Fair is Love” is possibly my least favorite song on here. Still a very good love song. “Don’t Worry ‘bout a Thing” is a great positive song. Nice vocals and nice Latin rhythm in this song. Love the positive message. The last song, “He’s Missta Know-it-All” is a great political song about Richard Nixon. Love the piano, love the vocals, and love the drumming.

No doubt that this is a great album. Stevie played most of the instruments on here, which makes it extra cool. Again, one of the best 1970s albums. It makes people like myself (who was born way too late) wish they were living in this great decade filled with the best Rock & Roll music. Of course, there are tons of other 1970s albums that just like that, but Innervisions really put you in that position. Oh, well. The best thing we can do is listen to this album and appreciate how great it is.
