Stones fans: Start me up
Faithful gladly suffer to spend night together with their favorite band

Michele Adams wanted to do something special for her husband to celebrate their 26th
wedding anniversary.
So Michele, 44, toiled for hours in sub-freezing temperatures, working for United Parcel
Service over the holidays to earn money for her suprise. Then she plunked down $900 for
two tickets in row 18 for Tuesday night's Rolling Stones concert at McNichols Sports
Arena.
"It was worth every penny," she said Tuesday night as she and Rick stood outside Big Mac, waiting for ushers to open the door.
They were just two of the thousands of Stones fans who snapped up every available ticket within hours. It was the culmination of their love for the group's music that has lasted even longer than their marriage.
"When we were dating, they were our favorite group and we never got to see them," she said.
Then when she heard Mick Jagger and the Stones were coming to Denver, she got her idea.
And she went to work.
On New Year's Eve, she gave Rick, 46, the tickets and told him what she had planned.
Tuesday night, they dressed as if they were headed for a formal -- Rick in boots, pressed cream-colored pants and a cotton shirt, Michele in a leopard-print dress.
And they arrived in style, stepping from a limousine that brought them from the luxury hotel where they're spending a few days. There was even champagne.
"I'd heard the Stones were coming -- but I didn't think of getting a ticket," Rick said.
Asked Michele: "What a good wife, huh?"
At the other end of the spectrum were Ron Downing, a 37-year-old carpenter, and his roommate, truck driver Bruce Cooper, 33.
"I bought tickets the original day they came out, got broke, sold 'em, then found a guy selling them three or four days ago," Downing said as the two sipped beer and whiskey outside the arena.
"I've got three older brothers," Cooper said, holding his left hand waist-high, "so I've been listening to them since I was this big."
On Tuesday, the chance to see the band trumped all concerns.
Cooper, for example, was scheduled to be back at work at 8 a.m. today. But he wasn't worried.
"If I have to get a new job, no big deal," he said.
