: Exile is a masterpiece to me. The songs that have been singled out as "lower tier" or whatever are some of the Stones best attempts at country, Delta blues and other purely American forms of music. Considering where the Stones come from, I think they really had a firm grasp of what they wanted to convey on Exile. The album seems focused more than their other albums. Nothing sounds left over, and even though it was recorded in different places and years even, the Exile songs on the 72 tour sound a lot more like their studio counterparts than any other album/tour. It seems like Exile didn't need any more work, where sometimes the Stones can leave something sounding less than finished (Jiving Sister Fanny would be an example, the idea is fucking great, but it's missing something), or they produce a song to death (You Can't Always Get What You Want sounds much better without the London Bach Choir).

: Exile is a state of mind. Exile is better than food.

: Rip This Joint....

I think it's an album that defies the intellectual approach that alot of people on here seem to get tied down to. You can't examine lyrics, or individual instruments most of the time, due to the way it was produced.
