: exactly...the yankees are made up mostly of players who came via trade of the farm. the reason why the yanks are good now is becuase they kept their prospects (unlike before in the 1980's) and have also made good trades. sure, they have money, but they haven't bought the WS championships these last few years...

This is my last comment on this to both of you. Check the top ten payrolls this year. Every team but the inept Dodgers and Orioles from the list are the eight playoff teams. I'm not for a cap myself, but don't say with a straight face that one big reason why the Yankees dominate now isn't because of the money they generate and pay out.
