: Is this so? Or am I thick? Or both?
: There seems to be a difference of opinion as to whether the Brian Jones who played sax
with the Beatles in circa '68 was ANOTHER Brian Jones, a session musician. Perhaps it's
HIM singing on yellow submarine.
Brian most definitely played sax on two Beatles numbers. I have the book "Beatles Recording Sessions" which is the holy grail of Beatle books. Its been a few years since I read it but I know one of the songs he is on is You Know My Name (Look Up The Number). On Yellow Submarine Brian sings background vocals and it is also Mr. Jones who is clanking away on the glasses that you hear in the background.
As far as Stones songs and his singing, there are a few on the early albums where he
sings background but his vocals stand out most on these: Its All Over Now, Walking
The Dog, Yesterdays Papers (the second backup solo vocal)and Ruby Tuesday which he
sings vocal harmony with Keef. I almost forgot SFTD, where he and the rest of the band are
a part of the greatest backup vocals ever recorded for any rock song (IMO anyway!)
