: I always thought that Physical Graffiti was Zep's try at Exile. It's two albums, varying styles, recorded with the Stones' Mobile, and they even borrowed Ian Stewart.
: Exile is in a whole 'nother league.
Actually they have more in common than you think-
1. Like EXILE, PG was partially marathon sessions, and part leftovers- the Reason Stu is on GRAFFITI, is because "Boogie With Stu" is from the same sessions as "Rock and Roll" on LZ IV-recorded with the Stones Mobile at Micks house at Stargroves -- in those days, when you rented the Mobile, sometimes Stu came with it....
2. Ditto for Andy Johns being the engineer
3. The similarity between the two covers-at least VISUALLY similar..(now someone could say that the Stones stole the cut-out idea for SOME GIRLS here...but I wont go into that now!)
4. The fairly mixed reviews they both received upon release-although GRAFFITI has NEVER quite grown in stature as EXILE has...
5. Both are kind of a watershed in both groups career(s)- It was after this that various demons (literally!) started haunting various members of each band...
To tell the truth, I ve really never been too much of a LZ fan- Ive ALWAYS been disappointed by their live stuff- Ive always thought that JPJ was a weak link, especially live- theres a reason that Page had wanted Entwhistle whe he started LZ up.......
