: : Here's the scoop on the Filming of Waiting on a Friend. It was filmed in and around St. Mark's Bar.
: : Karnach or whatever his name is, is wrong in his book, it was never Saint Mark's Bar and Grill. It was just St. Mark's Bar. It existed up until mid 1999 when it was closed down. In all honesty, it was a dump with over expensive beer and bad drinks. The name St. Mark's Bar comes from the fact that it is at the End of St. Mark's Place in the East Village. However, the few redeeming features of the bar is that the stones did play a few songs in the bar, including waiting on a freind and a few blues covers for the people who are in the video. The coolest thing about the bar is that it had a huge painting of the stones (it was a copy of the pic in Sticky Fingers - the one where bill is pointing at his nose) at the back of the bar. It was really really really cool. But sadly, St. Mark's Bar and that great painting are gone. It was closed for good and gutted this past fall. Hopefully whatever opens there will keep the painting of the Stones, but its doubtful. Another peice of Stones history is washed away.
Also, Lord Voodoo, note that in the video when Keith meets Mick on the stairs, the stairs with the 2 lion heads, the building is the scene of the Led Zeppelin album, Physical Graffiti. Just thought I let you know, if you did not know already...
