: But gone also is the chance that you might hear something really compelling and memorable, something beyond mere product.
I think that is what surprised me with the CSN&Y show. I was expecting great vocals but nothing more than ok guitar. I had only seen Neil Young live as a solo act, he was cool then but not fired up like he was with CS&N. His guitar playing was on fire with them. He dosen't play the same way Keef does but still plays great hard rock guitar.
I would love to leave the next Stones concert with the same feeling that CSNY gave me. I was more than satisfied with the Stones last show. But I did not feel totally blown away. In the past the Stones made me feel that way. I wanna feel it again from them. I want to see Keef & Ron face each other and play a long, hot wailing guitar weave like I saw Stills & Young just do. I wanna see that more than once in the show too. They can do that. Hell it was Keef and Brian who pretty much started that, in a rock/blues mold anyway. Keef & Ronnie CAN do that in the studio, so why not live? I wanna hear that! Yes, something beyond mere (typical live) product.
:I'm glad that many people have found the shows of the last 10 years or so to be great. I guess I just have higher expectations of this band.
I understand what you mean. The Stones have been great the last ten years live. But that one thing is missing. I will still enjoy their show if they don't change anything, but just think what a little more guitar can do for them. BTY, I had no qualls at all with Jagger. The man still puts on a great show. He is not just going through the moves..... OK, one thing, maybe he could just sing a few more songs per show.
