The way I remember Wyman telling the story, he, Brian and Charlie were playing around in studio (Brian on organ?) witing for Glimmer Twins to show up. Keith walked in and liked the riff.
Notice too the the great riffs in the chorus were never played after Brian's death, nor the great ending.
I'd take the original anytime.
