No doubt, it is the 60s talking here--didn't you see the TV miniseries, Syph? Then you'd get it. ;)

Seriously, the mix is truly awful, and I, like you, wonder if Keith's comment about there being a better mix that was so to say mixed up was just covering up, Monday-morning quarterbacking after coming down from whatever they were intaking. As far as I know, they were relatively straight until around this time, so they might have been going buck nuts with the substances to make up for lost time. Fleabit...'s post makes good points that might help you appreciate it.

Though I would listen to We Love You for a similar vibe that is much more successful, IMO. Great singing (back-ups by Len-McC, supposedly), drumming, and keyboards (Brian plays an incredible organ or Mellotron or something). Cool lyrics, too, like this one.

I LOVE Juiced as is, though it is even less subtle than Have You Seen.... Silly as all heck, but I can't help laughing when I hear: "Gimme lil' taste of those fyuuuumes...Need a lil' bewwwwwooooost." It sounds like Jags is being sent bodily through the speakers, like Mr. Fantastic, and is landing in a pile in front of you. "Might as well get jooooooooooooooozedughhhh..." I'm confident this version conveys much more the feeling of a nasty drunk than the version Keith likes. Not a bad idea, right now, either...
