That's an interesting point about Brian in the studio, compared with the Beatles and what
they had to do. And of course the Beatles had the benefit of George Martin's production.
Once the Stones got a good producer, Jimmy Miller, their sound really improved, IMO. I get
annoyed when people try to minimize Brian's role. You can't take him out--his mark is
indelible, musically, psychologically, everything. What you get after he dies, yes, is the
Rolling Stones, but with power consolidated within Mick and Keith's hands alone, you end
up with a different animal. I've never felt that Brian Jones was Johannes Bach, but he was
damned important and because of his short, troubled life, his contributions (cf. my above
post) are too often overlooked.
