: Just got The Stones Got the Blues today, and what can I say? I loved the ENTIRE thing! But I have a few questions for those who are more accustomed to bootlegs and all. I could tell when most of the songs were recorded and where they came from. But I have some questions as to where and when some of 'em were done. They are:
: Key to the Highway, Sweet Virginia (I;m guessing sometime on the Voodoo Lounge tour), Black Limousine, Love in Vain, Prodigal Son, Hey Crawdaddy (sometime in '65, I guess?).
: Otherwise, I'm satisfied. When's the listening party?
: Slowly rocking (and bluesing) on...
As 2000 Man said, Sweet Virginia and Black Limo are from Brixton Academy July 19, 1995. They are on my Stripped Companion along with the Stripped versions of Honest I Do and No Expectations. This 19 track cd is a must have. Also, It Hurts Me Too, the interlude and Highland Fling are from Jamming with Edward, which is actually an official release. In the Let it Bleed sessions they were waiting for Keith to show and just messing around, jamming. The engineer left the tape rolling while they jammed and 3 years later they released this album [36mins] for the hell of it, as they had their own record label at the time. Ry Cooder and Nicky Hopkins do most of the lead and the others follow. It Hurts Me Too[Elmore James] is the only actual song on this cd. I included Highland Fling because Nicky sounds great in this impromptu boogie. And I thought after a healthy shot of "blues" a good pick me up was in order and at least to me sounded like a good ending song. I have an Australian Stones Collectibles cd with Fancy Man, Cook Cook, Key to the Highway,I Just Want to Make Love and other live songs. Very good b-sides.....I haven't heard from anyone else that was interested awhile back, in doing a listening party. It's probably too late to set one up for tomorrow evening. If there is any interest expressed in the next few days, maybe we can agree on a time and day that works for most of us next week. Have a great blues and boogie weekend...Rick
