WELL. If THIS SONG is the judge of my loyalty to this band, I am rightly judged tried and hung. I really don't care fer it. I LIKE it, to be sure; groove on it, listen carefully to its nuances and its beauty, BUTTT:
It's not kick arse G-spot hammer-on with me.I can think of TONS the great precious amalgam base that turn me quiver MUCH faster than this tune.
It's got "all this stuff gon' on" to be sure; the Gospel/soul thang, the horns, the nice threading, but it's not just ONE THANG, and that makes it not quite straight-up enuf, not quite RAW enuf, not quite base enuf fer me. Man, I can think of SO MANY songs that turn me to a writhing mass of neurons and sinew, blood and bone faster than this baby. To me, it's frigging GENERIC almost.
Gimme Rocks Off before this. And that's not saying all that much.
