Yeah, I'm with you on that. That song is one of the greatest and most important rock songs ever.
The Stones did quite a few tracks in that middle period that had something to them that the Beatles couldn't match: PIB, Ruby Tuesday, Dandelion, 2000 LYFM, JJF, SFM. Just a certain "feel" that the Beatles didn't have.
