I was 14 and sitting around in my room playing a greatest hits tape someone had made with Street Fighting Man, Ruby Tuesday, and Under My Thumb (probably taped off Hot Rocks). I had heard them many times before, but it suddenly hit me what they were all about and I've never been the same since about rock and roll. I went out and probably did what alot of you are doing right now - slowly started exploring everything I could find that had Stones music on it.
Fun process because there were many highlights that took years to come and only kept confirming my belief that no one else even came close to making music like the Stones. First time I heard Moonlight Mile, Dead Flowers, No Expectations, Stray Cat Blues, You Got The Silver, Monkey Man, etc. The BEST though, Gassers, was discovering Exile. It was years after I got into the Stones (and took several random listenings) before I really got hooked on that album. Now I can't go more than a few days without at least flipping thru Rocks Off, Tumblin', Torn, Lovin' Cup, Happy. There is nothing better than Exile On Main Street.
