: Perhaps younger women are indoctrinated with far too much pop feminist ideology in school, before (or more likely instead of) being prepared to understand and think critically about these issues with a good solid liberal arts background. Feminist influenced studies are an easy and narcissistic path to take. It also leads to knee jerk reactions and a lack of understanding of irony.
I think that how a songwriter lives his life provides insight into understanding his songs. In Laura Jackson's bio on Mick she comments that (while he was married to Bianca) if his girlfriends' dress, appearance, didn't meet his standards he would have them go change ie (Under My Thumb.)
I realize that sometimes he is simply taunting, however given his years of serial adultery, I think his mysogenistic lyrics do reflect his own problems dealing with women. (installing his lover in a hotel suite next to Jerry, joining Carla B. the day after Jerry gives birth to Georgia, IMO this kind of behavior goes beyond cheating and is just CRUEL!)
Had Mick's mysogenistic songs been written by someone like Paul McCartney (of whom I am not a fan) I wouldn't read any mysogenistic intention because of the way Paul has treated women in his personal life.
