North Babylon, New York 

North Babylon is a town located in the Town of Babylon in Suffolk County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York. The population was 17,927 at the 2020 census. It is also the very last town in New York state where your webmaster lived before moving out west, 40 plus years ago. At least back then, it was a wonderful and diverse place to live.

The Southern State Parkway (also known as just the "Southern State") is a 25.53-mile (41.09 km) parkway on Long Island, New York. The parkway is actually a continuation of the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn and officially begins at an interchange with the Belt and Cross Island Parkways in Elmont, NY, in Nassau County, with its new name and travels east to an interchange with the Sagtikos State Parkway in West Islip, Suffolk County, where it becomes the Heckscher State Parkway. I used to work at the now closed toll booths in Elmont and was often asked by visitors from outside of NY state, why a U.S. northern state like New York, would have a parkway called the "Southern state". Simple answer to that, the road is a New York State parkway that serves the southern part of Long Island.
