ROLLING STONES LYRICS I'D MUCH RATHER BE WITH THE BOYS Recorded on February 24, 1965, making it the very first recorded gay rock song, and it would had been the first such song released if that had been done before August of 1965 (when the Beatles released "You Got to Hide Your Love Away"). But this song wasn't released until 1975 on the METAMORPHOSIS album, since only the Glimmers appear on it. Written about song writer/producer Bob Crewe, who at the time was still in the closet, as most gays in the US were up until the mid '60s. Lead Vocals: Mick Jagger Guitars: Keith Richards, John McLaughlin Bass: Joe Moretti Drums: Andy White I'D MUCH RATHER BE WITH THE BOYS
Here I am
Here I am
I hold up my head up high when I walk down the street
Don't put me on
Who's fooling who
