So what is your point then, that a Stones song is only great if Charlie is on it?

Let me get this straight... you can hear the difference between the non charlie watts version of YCAGWYW and what? There is no other studio version. There are other takes but its the same lineup. There are live songs, but everything is very different live.

Its a band and at that time they had a fair number of guys sitting in for a song here and there. Jimmy Miller played alot of the drums in that era, and I have never heard anyone complain about his work. Regardless of who is playing on the track, that song is one of the essential stones songs. When they play it live, its Charlie on Drums, its still the same song.

As for Bill, your a fool of you think he's just solid. He's one of the best bassist to ever play in any rock band. Without Bill, alot of stones songs would have been less interesting. But that isn't the point. Studio stuff, especially in that era has only two constants. Mick (or Keith) sang every song, and Mick and Keith wrote basically every song. The rest changes in the studio. Who is playing what was almost irrelevant. In later era, Keith always played guitar, Bill always played bass and charlie always played drums. Those were other constants, but they weren't constants in the 69-72 era.

: Oh, please don't miss my point. I can HEAR the difference without Charlie on You Can't....

: As for Bill, he was so solid, but come on. Tumbling Dice is my favorite and he ain't on it.
